FarmFit, the must attend event for European young entrepreneurs in the Agri-food market is coming

The new highly interactive & inspiring platform for tomorrow’s change-makers

FarmFit is the short name for the “Farm & Food Innovations and Technology” event and community. A new, unconventional platform coming live at the end of 2021 in Germany. This concept is the response to a need for connection between young farmers, food-professionals and representatives from the Agri-food sector including innovators, investors, know-how providers, policy-makers and others. FarmFit is the meeting place for the open-minded change-makers from across Europe who are building their (economic) sustainable business based on technology, digitalisation, transparency and environmental connection.

The Agri-food system calls for change
Population growth, digitalisation, food security, increasing production costs, climate change, the Farm2Fork strategy, but also consumer driven trends such as health and well-being, and new technologies like CRISPER/Cas, Clean Meat, AI and robotics. These are only some of the elements that will shape the complex agri-business of the future.

When well-educated young entrepreneurs make agri-business their carrier path, the traditional way of running a farm or a food company is hardly their idea to success. Young front-runners know that they must develop new production methods and build healthy business models to win the markets. While balancing productivity, environmental sustainability, capital investment and income, they also need to respond to the shifting consumer trends. Within such a rapidly evolving sector, collaboration and integrative solutions are crucial for entrepreneurs to understand how to choose winning strategies and make the right investment decisions.

FarmFit’s mission is to serve as the forum where young European makers exchange ideas and discuss cutting-edge technology and innovations with the aim of breaking through the challenges and becoming more successful by gaining and sharing knowledge.

Top 1,000 European Agri-food leaders
Within the Agri-food community the young entrepreneurial producers and processors are the core group for which the event and its network will be most beneficial. FarmFit calls out to farmers and food professionals who recognize the value of knowledge sharing and connections across the supply-chain.

“A Millennial from Denmark operating an innovative concept on transparency in the food chain. A tech-company from Germany with a cut-edge solution for precision livestock farming that improves animal welfare. A start-up of Generation Z from Benelux with a new technology that disrupts fresh-food delivery. A group of young winemakers pushing the boundaries of wine production. A post-graduate research team in France working on alternative-protein food trends in Europe. A biologist who set up an organic, sustainable dairy farm in Italy. These profiles apparently work in very specific industries, at various levels of the supply chain, with different operating issues to tackle and solve. The truth is that they are all essential innovators and forward-thinkers within the same food system. These are some examples of whom would fit best in the FarmFit concept” explains Heiko M. Stutzinger, Managing Director of VNU Asia Pacific and Director VNU Europe.

In essence, FarmFit is conceived for the top 1,000 leaders of tomorrow’s agri-business. The event and its network will give an incredible boost to both their single operations and the food system upgrade.

The event format that didn’t exist
FarmFit will introduce the community to a new, interactive and inspiring setting that puts the next generation of farmers and food professionals at the centre of the scope and integrates serious content and innovations with entertainment.

Over 300 content sessions, including thematic and interactive meetings, speaker corners, campfires, jam sessions, and more. A combination of small, medium and large sessions, with plenty of informal meetings to exchange ideas and information will generate a powerful interaction among participants.

The moderation will be facilitated by key representatives of the farm & food community, who will help shape the discussion digitally and onsite in a dynamic setting and buzzing atmosphere.

For the 2-day live program in Germany, the venue, which will be disclosed in 2021, will play a key role in driving the interactions to the maximum and enable the flow of bold ideas.

“We are working on a truly pragmatic platform where young business people are inspired to share visions, plans, best practices, but also failures. We are addressing those kinds of personalities who are willing to play a role in the discussions, and be part of the event, instead of simply consuming its contents.” said Zhenja Antochin, VNU Europe Senior Project Manager.

VNU ANNOUNCES NEW SCHEDULE FOR 2021

Flagship and leading international events secured for Q3/Q4 next year

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, travel restrictions, and ongoing worldwide uncertainty, VNU Group modifies its show calendar to secure successful inter-regional exhibitions during the second half of 2021.

The schedule modifications will result in the postponement of six leading events in the agribusiness sectors, which are organized by VNU Asia Pacific, VNU Europe, and partners. The events were originally planned to take place in the upcoming months in Southeast Asia.

“Our exhibitions mobilize and connect cross-regional markets. High-quality visitors from several economies is the client expectation for these shows. This is especially true with VIV Asia, our flagship event for the Feed to Food portfolio and the leading platform of its kind throughout the entire Asia-Pacific region” said Heiko M. Stutzinger, Managing Director of VNU Asia Pacific and Director VIV worldwide/VNU Europe.

“After consultation with our esteemed co-organizing partners, exhibitors, and respective venues, we have decided to take action in advance and postpone VIV Asia, Meat Pro Asia, Free From Food Asia, ILDEX Vietnam, ILDEX Indonesia and Aquatica Asia until the second half of 2021” announced Stutzinger.

VIV Asia and co-located events postponed until September 2021

VIV Asia and the newly co-located events, Meat Pro Asia and Free from Food Asia, were originally planned for March and are now scheduled to take place on September 22-24, 2021 at IMPACT, Bangkok, Thailand.

“Global travel restrictions have remained and Thailand continues to enforce a mandatory 14-day quarantine for all visitors entering the country. Our local office in Bangkok is monitoring the cautious measures that the Thai government is taking due to concern of a second COVID-19 wave, as witnessed in other countries” stated Panadda Kongma, Director of VNU Asia Pacific.

“VIV Asia alone attracts more than 50,000 professionals with 70% of participants visiting from outside of Thailand. Vaccines seem to be stagnant in the trail stage throughout multiple countries and are not likely to be broadly distributed until early 2021, thus limiting the ability for many companies to plan for business trips. As organizers, we believe that a high-quality show with an expected number of international buyers can come to fruition by postponing the shows until September 2021” explains Zhenja Antochin, Senior Project Manager of VNU Europe.

VIV Asia 2021 is scheduled to take place at the same exhibition halls (Challenger 1, 2, and 3) as previously planned for March. Additionally, Meat Pro Asia is confirmed to take place at Challenger 1 and Free from Food Asia at Hall 4.

ILDEX Vietnam postponed until July 2021 | ILDEX Indonesia and co-located event postponed until november 2021

To facilitate good attendance for the Asian agri-business shows planned in 2021, VNU Asia Pacific and partners have also decided to reserve new dates for ILDEX Vietnam, ILDEX Indonesia and Aquatica Asia.

ILDEX Vietnam will now take place from July 21-23, 2021 at SECC (Saigon Exhibition and Convention Center), Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam. Following in Q4, both ILDEX Indonesia and Aquatica Asia shows will take place from November 24-26, 2021 at ICE (Indonesia Convention Exhibition), Jakarta, Indonesia.

Clear directions and smart preparation

The adjusted show calendar allows for adequate preparation for all concerned stakeholders. VNU is determined to deliver high-quality shows without compromising the inter-regional nature of the events.

VNU ASIA PACIFIC PARTNERS WITH THAILAND EXHIBITION ASSOCIATION (TEA) TO ORGANIZE A COMPREHENSIVE WEBINAR SERIES FOR THE THAI EXHIBITION INDUSTRY

BANGKOK – September 9, 2020The Thai Exhibition Association (TEA) will organize a webinar series to connect Thai exhibition organizers and related parties. VNU Asia Pacific won TEA’s bidding to organize the conference series and will partner with TEA in the execution. The webinar platform aims to allow exhibitors to share their best practices and experiences while creating a vast virtual network at the same time.

TEA is the leading association for organizers, exhibition centers, exhibition stand contractors, freight forwarders and related suppliers dedicated to the promotion and development of exhibitions in Thailand. During the COVID-19 pandemic, global exhibitions struggle due to ongoing travel restrictions. Additionally, certain countries still face restrictions that prohibit organizing trade shows. Since the beginning of the pandemic, TEA has continually worked alongside government agencies and the private sector to transition exhibitions back to normal operations in a timely manner.

Both parties plan a total of three webinars on the following dates: September 30, October 14, and November 4. The topics will cover the Thai Exhibition, Convention, and Event Industries.

“This is a great opportunity to help the exhibition industry at this difficult moment. With years of professional conferenceand exhibition organizer experience, we are ready to support TEA with the various services we offer, especially in the digital and virtual space. Although COVID-19 has reduced our international face-to-face events significantly, we are optimistic that digital platforms will help to connect the global community and continue developing our business model further” comments Mr. Heiko M. Stutzinger, Managing Director of VNU Asia Pacific.

Business Opportunities for the Aquaculture Sector

Aquatica Asia will be a strategic step towards a dedicated business platform to improve the production of fisheries within the aquaculture industry. In past years, organizers have worked to include the aquaculture segment in ILDEX Indonesia, however, the new event will help to further highlight the industry for the existing show and industry professionals.

Panadda Kongma, Director of Agri-business and Operations of VNU Asia Pacific

“In 2020, Indonesia’s marine affairs and fisheries is one of the three main sectors contributing to the country’s economic development. The efforts done by the Indonesian Ministry of Marine Affairs and Fisheries are the appropriate steps. These efforts include improvements of fisheries production and commodities that have been dominating both exports and local markets such as shrimps, seaweed, catfish, grouper, etc. Another part of the efforts was the initiative of GPP to run Aquatica Asia in 2018 with fishery stakeholders co-locating with Indo Aqua under the support of the Ministry of Marine Affairs and Fisheries of the Republic of Indonesia by Directorate General of Aquaculture” stated Panadda Kongma, Director of Agri-business and Operations of VNU Asia Pacific.

VIV worldwide takes off with a fresh look

The Feed to Food network is back to business, with a “facelift” to its branding

The VIV mission to link professionals from Feed to Food continues and evolves, surely looking at the future. In the midst of these very dynamic and challenging times, the VIV organization takes the opportunity to improve its communication scheme. Looking at the encouraging news from the world with business being restored and country borders being gradually reopened after months of uncertainty, VIV is giving its branding and design a compelling new look.

VIV worldwide portfolio, unfolded
Much has happened within the VIV portfolio and organization in the recent years: events grew in size; market shares shifted amongst world regions, new territories were explored, more initiatives were launched and new partnerships have been established.

“During the pandemic peak period, we took the time to consolidate our existing brand architecture” says Heiko M. Stutzinger, Director of VIV worldwide. “The VIV worldwide mission is strongly intertwined with our client’s business development. Introducing this new look, our goal is to provide a clear picture of where we are and where we are heading to. We want to offer to all our stakeholders a straightforward message of what VIV worldwide exactly represents. At the same time, we make sure we keep consistent with the well-known VIV identity” explains Stutzinger.

Core identity and platforms empowerment
VIV worldwide will keep its core identity. On the other hand, the re-branding envisions an empowerment of each single platform by providing them with unique and characteristic visual features that make each show easily recognizable. The VIV network consists of hub events and international events. In a very complex business environment, VIV aims at providing a clear and attractive design.

“That’s how the VIV MEA logo shapes out from the hosting city skyline; the VIV Europe visual generates from the power of a “Dutch” wind turbine; VIV Asia logo affirms the show’s prestige standing tall with its Asiatic-style stupa; VIV Turkey identifies via an unmistakable Maiden’s Tower; VIV Qingdao logo remarks its solid presence in China via a dynamic version of the Great Wall. Likewise, the lotus national flower defines the ILDEX Vietnam logo identity; while ILDEX Indonesia is represented by the Borobudur national landmark. Poultry Africa logo keeps its focus on the specie element bringing within its new brand-scheme the already established feather chicken visual” says Elena Geremia, Senior MarCom manager of VIV worldwide.

The VIV Online platform maintains its role as a year-long connection between the show dates and regions, and the logo says exactly this: VIV Online is there for the industry 24/7, non-stop.

Finally, all visuals share a common and unique feature: the VIV “diamond” frame-shape, highlighting the ties that each show and platform constitute within a complete and inter-connected VIV portfolio and Feed to Food network.

Continuous improvement in a changing world
New ways of doing business are developing constantly, not only fueled by Covid-19 challenges, within the exhibition and animal protein production industry. In a time of changes, VIV works and focuses on continuous improvement.

Messe Frankfurt and VNU Asia Pacific join forces to launch a new meat and food processing trade show for the South East Asian market

In a strategic expansion into the growing food technology sector, Messe Frankfurt New Era Business Media Ltd and VNU Asia Pacific, announce a partnership to jointly organise ‘Meat Pro Asia’, a new trade show dedicated to meat and food processing and catering to the ASEAN region. The show will take place on a biennial basis in co-location with VIV Asia – the no.1 international trade show from Feed to Food in Asia.

The inaugural edition will open its doors on 1012 March 2021 at IMPACT, Bangkok – Thailand.

Commenting on the new event, Mr. Wolfgang Marzin, President and Chief Executive Officer of Messe Frankfurt Group, said: “Despite a challenging first half of the year, we continue to see the need to establish new trade fairs in emerging markets around the world. With an increasingly wealthy population of 600 million, the ASEAN region is an exciting prospect, with high potential for growth in sectors such as meat and food processing”.

“This new cooperation in Asia strengthens and completes – especially towards the downstream part of the supply chain – the already leading position of VNU in the Asian animal protein production business” commented Mr. Albert Arp, Group CEO of Royal Jaarbeurs / VNU Group. VNU Asia Pacific has an extensive track record in the Thai market with a rich portfolio of events for the AgriTech, Animal, Food, and other sectors, covering all of the key markets in South East Asia.

“Adding to an international network of events related to food processing technologies, Meat Pro Asia is Messe Frankfurt’s first venture in this sector in South East Asia” noted Mr. Stephan Buurma, Member of the Board of Management, Messe Frankfurt Group and Managing Director of the Asia regional head office. “We therefore see great potential to leverage our experience and sector expertise, including the resources of IFFA in Frankfurt, the world’s leading meat processing trade fair, for the benefit of the industry in South East Asia.”

Combining industry resources
“Working closely with Messe Frankfurt, we aim at attracting the top suppliers and buyers in the processing industry to Meat Pro Asia, establishing this exhibition as a top destination in the ASEAN region for meat processing and packaging equipment” said Mr. Heiko M. Stutzinger, Managing Director of VNU Asia Pacific and Director of VIV worldwide. “VIV Asia has witnessed a consistent growth during the recent editions of the food processing segment. By holding Meat Pro Asia alongside VIV Asia, and leveraging on the experience of Messe Frankfurt in this specific sector, we are going to provide the entire spectrum of food technology to trade buyers. We are confident that this new event will be a great success,” Stutzinger added.

Expressing equally positive sentiments, Mr. Stephan Buurma added: “With its extensive local ties, and sector experience, VNU is the perfect partner for this new venture. Set to become the only trade fair of its kind in the region, Meat Pro Asia will serve as the perfect launching pad to opportunities in the ASEAN market, which is widely recognised as one of the world’s most promising markets for food technology.”

A vibrant market
Expected to grow by 4.7% annually until 2023[1], the market for processed foods in ASEAN has been bolstered by the demands of a rising middle class.

More important contributors to the industry’s growth trajectory are government policies which aim to convert Thailand into one of the world’s top five food

exporters by 2036[2], thereby fostering a favourable trading and regulatory environment for Meat Pro Asia’s participants to benefit from when it opens its doors in March 2021.

Helping channel players from ASEAN and beyond gain access to the high potential market, Meat Pro Asia will focus exclusively on solutions that deliver meat from farm to table. This includes slaughtering, the full processing chain, packaging, labelling, cold chain logistics, quality control, hygiene, IoT and automation, waste water treatment and more. Visitors to the new show will include processing companies, food retailers, importers, exporters, wholesalers, manufacturers, agents, distributors and engineering firms.

Meat Pro Asia will be co-located with VIV Asia, gathering the entire supply chain under a single roof. VIV Asia is the leading biennial event for the protein production industry across a wide variety of animal species, including pigs, dairy, fish and shrimp, poultry broilers, cattle and calves. Held across 31,000 sqm, VIV Asia in 2019 attracted 1,245 exhibitors and over 45,000 international visitors from more than 120 countries.

Meat Pro Asia is organised by Messe Frankfurt New Era Business Media Ltd and VNU Asia Pacific. The inaugural edition will be held from 10-12 March 2021 at IMPACT, Bangkok. For more information, please e-mail meatproasia@china.messefrankfurt.com and/or panadda@vnuasiapacific.com .

Thailand eases third phase of lockdown from June 1, 2020

VNU Asia Pacific ready to restart ASEAN’s economy through its exhibition platforms

2nd June 2020 – Bangkok: On June 1st, Thai Government announced the third phase easing of Covid-19 lockdown measures which also gives the green light to convention and exhibition centers. The Thai cabinet resolved to extend the enforcement of the emergency decree for one month, effective from June 1 until June 30, 2020 to ensure that the COVID-19 situation is under control and a potential second-wave infection can be prevented. However, the third phase is allowing more economic and social activities to operate under strict health and public safety rules and regulations. This includes the reopening of convention and exhibition centers for business with space usage not exceeding 20,000 sqm gross space. This marks a very good sign for the exhibition industry to start rebuilding the economy again after the crisis situation.

VNU Asia Pacific, announces readiness to organize exhibitions in order to stimulate the economy in a variety of industries, including the pet industry, the agricultural and horticultural technology industry, the science and biology laboratory technology as well as livestock business. Also, the company has made significant progress in the preparation of its large-scale shows that will happen in the first quarter of 2021.

Stutzinger, Managing Director of VNU Asia Pacific, comments: “During the lockdown period in Thailand and around the world, although many trade shows had to be postponed, the VNU teams in Thailand, China and the Netherlands have been working very focused on the development and preparation of the events that are going to take place in Q4 2020 as well as 2021. In addition, we are working on digital and online platforms in order to enhance our customer’s ROI. We believe that the 3rd phase of easement is a strong sign that our exhibitions both in Thailand and Vietnam at the end of this year will be organized.”

Major exhibitions of VNU Asia Pacific will take place from October onwards: Pet Fair Southeast Asia 2020 (the international trade show for the pet business), as well as AGRITECHNICA ASIA and Horti ASIA 2020 (Agricultural Machinery and Horticultural trade fairs) will simultaneously be organized 14-16 October 2020 at BITEC in Bangkok.

VIV MEA postponed to 2021

The international event VIV MEA which was planned in Abu Dhabi for August 31–2 September 2020 is postponed to 23–25 November 2021.

COVID-19 is disrupting the business around the world much longer than predicted. While there is uncertainty about the re-activation of international travel, there is also concern about the general health.

Postponing the event to November 2021 is the most responsible decision to take. The postponement allows the organizer to deliver – together with all parties involved – the mission to stage strong, high value-adding events for and with the industry.

In November 2021, the 3rd edition of VIV MEA will take place in Abu Dhabi, U.A.E., again at the ADNEC facilities. This much awaited event will finally offer the opportunity to connect the Middle East and Africa markets with the top suppliers from the world, from Feed to Food.
